Biovecblok is a spin-off company of the University of Camerino, which aims at developing innovative strategies able to control mosquitoes, vectors of many diseases as dengue, Zika virus, chikungunya and yellow fever.
Biovecblok proposes itself as a research society whose purpose is to develop different methods in mosquito vector population control employing natural, non toxic compounds.
The main Biovecblok assets are patents destined to be licensed to Companies in this field for industrial production.
Our solutions can help governments, communities or single citizens in all over the world (especially in those countries where mosquito borne diseases are endemic) to protect people's health and assure a major quality of life through sustainable, economically viable processes of zero environmental impact.
Our goal is to overcome all the limitations of chemical insecticides currently employed, by developing innovative, ecological biotechnologies harmless to humans and which are economically sustainable, able to lessen the number of vector mosquitoes and, consequently, to reduce their ability to transmit diseases.
In 2017 we were the first Italian start-up to get on the podium of the Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC), World Final, in Berkeley, competition for start-ups of relevant social impact network, in which more than 1000 projects took part from all over the world, having proved that our solutions received not only scientific appreciations, but also acknowledgements for a considerable Social Impact.
We will use the funds obtained through the equity crowdfunding campaign both to protect patents in the countries of interest, but also to complete our laboratories (semi-field cages) for experimentation and to strengthen new research lines for the development of other patents.
Given the new yellow fever emergency affecting the suburban and urban areas of various Brazilian states, we will soon open a Biovecblok branch in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais state. The Brazilian branch will conduct fund-raising campaign for the first 2 years involving investors, local government bodies, as well as strategic figures for business development and will seek industrial partners for larvicide and repellent production. The funds raised will be used to set up a laboratory for research and development of new products. We make contacts with local Universities and institutions such as Fio Cruz.
IT IS OFFICIAL, STARTING FROM 4th JUNE 2018 AND FOR THE NEXT 4 MONTHS OUR EQUITY CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN WILL BE ACTIVE, WITH THE AIM OF OBTAINING CAPITAL BY SELLING CORPORATE SHARES IN EXCHANGE.
